She Undid Her Buttons

by Paul Tristram

She undid her buttons
and slid back down the bed…smiling.
I threw my cigarette at the ashtray,
I would deal with the burn marks later
on both carpet and soul.
Tingling with tenderness
I felt lace and magic and everything.
It swirled around my fingers and mind
blowing up into mental fireworks.
Centuries old scars
healed with slight caresses
…reciprocal, reciprocal, reciprocal…
Inside out, Off guard and scent driven.
I dove from the tip of her chin
to bounce from bellybutton
down into her explosion.
With a rage like passion,
extinguished never.
